The Child on My Doorstep

You noticed he wasn’t familiar and it was past the time the maintenance men are around and you still opened the door? And this was after the girl gave you the heebie jeebies? Lol I’d have been hiding with the cat! But I grew up where home invasions were a risk so my instincts are different and a bit twitchy.

And you opened the door to strangers without putting a mask on?

I guess it’s different in Texas. We (almost everyone in my town) wear masks to open the door where I live, but most of the time we don’t need to open the door for anything now. It’s all contactless. I am also older than you and had pneumonia a couple of winters ago, so my life is so changed now and I have to be careful because my lungs haven’t been the same since the flu and pneumonia. It was weird for me to read a story of someone opening their door and talking to strangers like the good old days before Corona. I probably will continue to wear masks every flu season.

Also when I first started reading this I got such a “black eyed kid” vibe on this. Have you heard of that urban legend? If not, you gotta Google it and read the stories! They’re similar to yours but the kid/s have all black eyes, including the normally white part.

I’m glad you and your boyfriend are on the mend from the virus. Take care and thanks for sharing you awesomely creepy encounter with us.
