China is the worse place a person from the any western nation could visit, I am sorry. Beijing is the worse, the people are more educated there and that is the problem.
The Party there teaches people throughout the education system that Westerners, Japanese, and whoever else they are beefing with at the moment over fishing waters/uninhabitable tiny island chains are evil imperial 100% capitalist scum that deserve no respect. Because all these people having the prosperity that they have can only be attributed to there knack for swindling and stealing from the good, hard and poor working people of the world; especially their own people(I admit, this can apply to any people of the world in actuality). Especially if you are seen as an American, you are a pig who is only good for making Transformer Movies.
Enjoy having your shins kicked by Chinese kids, while being mocked and laughed at by there elders? Love never receiving a smile from stores you patronize? Swoon over the thought of of people overcharging you for goods and services just because of the way you look(even though the sale price is listed in plain sight much lower)? Do you root for the bad guy in movies sometimes? You can be just that in a very special place, all this and much more can be found in any major mainland city in China!
The "Peoples" Communist Party of China does not give a fuck about anything but looks, the whole country underneath it is so vain it makes Hollywood look like Dutch Pennsylvania. The Government does not have a single moral motive for putting this tourist training into action, it is just to save face. Rural China is much better as far as the nastiness goes, and Hong Kong better still from experience. If you want to go to East Asia to experience a 10,000 year old culture go to.... Vietnam. However, if it is just China you want go to Taiwan, that 10,000 year old culture that the Mainland loves to boast about is dead there, Mao killed that a while ago, and what remains is the worse parts of Capitalism and Socialism all mixed into a way of life.
