CMV: People in the Middle East and Africa have a right to be happy when a terrorist attack occurs in the West; likewise, people in the West have a right to disapprove of Middle Eastern/African migrants; not because they are immoral, but because this is a natural consequence of war

Subsequently, joy at the news of Western terrorist attacks is something that should be understood from the Middle East's POV. Liklwise, skepticism towards MidEast/African migrants is something that should be understood from America/Europe's POV.

I reject the premise that these points of view are worth considering. This sort of tribal mentality is medieval and unproductive. It simply perpetuates a cycle of violence that all of humanity must evolve beyond; and can, as evidenced by the fact that as much violence as there is today, there's less than ever before.

The natural consequences of war are obviously immoral because war is immoral. I don't accept cultural relativism on this point. Culture is subordinate to our basic humanity, which entails certain universal values, and an abhorrence of violence is the paramount one. The fact that we also possess instincts toward violence and hatred of others is irrelevant; man is a moral creature precisely because he can use his reasoning to overcome his instincts. Nature does not dictate morality. If it did, the laws of physics would be the laws of morality.

I don't need to use the same moral reasoning people have always used any more than I need to use the same toilets people always used - I have modern plumbing. If others from other cultures disagree, so what? Either I'm right that there are overriding universal values, or I'm not, and this is an assertion of my cultural values, and your whole point is that I'm completely entitled to that assertion.
