CMV: The UK's surveillance law that's just been passed (Snooper's Charter) is nothing to be scared of if you have nothing to hide.

On a fundamental level, you are right. If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to be scared of. Someone who follows the law perfectly in DPRK really has nothing to be scared of.

The issue is, does this level of personal invasion into your privacy make you uncomfortable? Well there's no right or wrong answer to this, it's just your own personal feelings. There's people who would be fine to be nude in public but for most us it's too personal to share our body with strangers like that.

I feel the same is true with the snoopers charter. If you have no issue with all of your internet history being available to the government, if that doesn't make you uneasy, then hey I can't argue with you on that. That's your feelings.

However, it seems (albeit anecdotally), that for the VAST majority of people this IS a huge invasion of our privacy, and one we are not comfortable with. Let me ask you, if the government were to install suveilance cameras in your living room, watching your every move, would you be ok with that? Your same arguments apply (If you have nothing to hide you don't need to be afraid, the government doesn't care what 99% of us do in your living room). But if the idea of being constantly surveyed in your living room makes you feel uneasy, that's how most of us feel about having our internet history being surveyed.
