CMV: A Universal Basic Income plan would drastically improve the quality of workers doing a given job.

The sciences of neuroscience and behavioral economics are telling us very interesting things about ourselves.

That things in books work great in books until humans are involved?

I'm well aware of stress and its affects on behavior. I'm not ignorant of psychology or how people end up in the situations they're in.

There's just no way UBI will solve anything, considering its economically impossible to create in any useful way.

You want to end every single social problem and just write every citizen a check for their share of that amount? I'm perfectly fine with that. The problem is that amount of money will be too small, when spread among growing close to 400 million people. The entire government spending on federal, state, and local levels is guesstimated at 6.6 trillion dollars. Divided by 400 million people is $16,500. That's assuming all pensions, social programs, national defense, NASA, public education, and everything is throw out and all money is diverted to UBI.

So ignoring that there remains zero government services and millions of suddenly unemployed people not paying taxes, as well as government based businesses no longer getting paid anything, people will have a little extra money.

So lets ignore UBI based on money since it won't pay anything, and money is not real anyway. Lets look at resources instead as that's what this is really all about anyway. People, at a base level, need food, shelter, and healthcare. So if you want a system of free healthcare, free housing, and free food, I'm all for it if you can find a cost effective way to do it, without it devolving into a ghetto system of slaves who are forced to work.

Instead of a non-working idea like UBI, maybe all that time and creative energy not be spent fighting economic battles from the 1800s, and instead find out how to decrease people's stress through education, therapy, and medication if necessary. Add yoga and meditation into the curriculum. Encourage people to stop needless consumption and focus on homesteading and life being under their own control and not their political Masters.
