My out of pocket maximum for medical, vision, and dental is less than 10,000 per year for the whole family, and that's with a subpar plan. I don't see any concerns there.
It’s nice to know you don’t have a chronic illness or concerns about problems as you age.
Finally, Japan has a higher life expectancy, but that is an average statistic. There is nothing inherent about living in Japan that makes people live longer -- it's probably a combination of diet, healthcare access, etc. All of which I can reasonably control for in the US if I am concerned about life expectancy.
But things like public transportation also increase quality of life. You can travel past losing your lisence for example, and are less likely to die in a traffic accident.
