The coming land rush in space - Space is the new Wild West. Nations and space companies are racing to come to a consensus on what they can own, mine and take possession of in outer space before competitors stake ground first.

basically the complete opposite. In the wild west or new world, regular every day poor people could just jump into a boat or wagon and make their way to it. It allowed for a massive growth of economy and development because everyday people could make something for themselves. With space mining however, no regular everyday poor people will be able to participate at all. You can't build a backyard spaceship to fly up and mine out something. It takes extremely complex technology that is just completely out of our reach. It also will most likely never employ an actual miner to travel to a rock but instead will use drones/robots to automate the entire thing.
