Concealed carry without permit becomes law in Missouri

I have never heard of a single gun accident which was the result of a lack of training where a person didn't know that if you press the trigger it shoots.

All of the stories of stupid gun mishaps I have heard are typically from people who are careless. Just like you don't see drivers who get into crashes because they never learned what the brake or gas pedal does, or not to suddenly shift your car into reverse at highway speeds.

This concern with training which everyone thinks is reasonable, is beside the point. You could march every gun owner in existence into 16 hours of training and it would have a negligible, if any, effect, on gun accidents.

I hear this all the time and I just don't understand it. How often do you hear stories, even as to practice, of defensive gun uses in which the target is missed and someone else is hit? I'm sure it happens, but as someone who monitors these on a daily basis, I can't remember a single instance of it. I'm sure there's one out there somewhere.

As I have said repeatedly, a person who has never touched a gun in their life, but uses both common sense and is meticulous, deliberate, sober, and conscience, is safer than someone with 30 years of shooting under their belt who is careless, drunk, or not paying attention to what they are doing.

No one is against training, but

Honestly, one thing I'd like to see is more zero tolerance for unsafe gun handling - at the range and at home. Like, gun owners need to police that shit.

I am never on edge at the range when someone comes in alone. The sense I get of what is dangerous, is when you have multiple young males who come in as a group and are passing guns back and forth and laughing and talking. Shooting is fun, but on the range itself (not in the building, but on the actual range) is a bad place for people to be having conversations and the like.
