The Conceptual Layer

Is separating the conceptual and experienced reality something that I will have better control of the more I meditate?

Yes. Try body-mindfulness for that, to get the skill really fine-grained.

Something as simple as your hand: read this and then try it. close your eyes. at the direct level, there will be a glob like cloud of pressures, temperatures, and the boundary of the glob is very difficult to find exactly. then, at the conceptual level, your mind will try to have a 'map' of your hand, the map making one feel 'certain' where the boundary is. if you're calm and slow about it, you can noticeably switch between this 'clear' sense of the map of your body, and that cloud that is ever-changing and not easy to pin down.

And that's just your hand!

is it even something that is beneficial in the first place?

Yes. 'Attachment to views' can be reduced, the more you rest awareness in the direct experience and less in the hall of mirrors that your mind concocts about experiences. Thoughts are a tool, but it can be better to 'take up residence' in direct experience and not make our 'house' where most people do, in the conceptual hall of mirrors.
