Public Sector Employees should never have been permitted to form unions.

The whole point of Public Sector employees is to serve the public. Public Unions have created a separate caste system in our country and the damage is immense across the board. You see it Teachers, Law Enforcement and State Economies that are bankrupt because of the power these unions wield. Unfortunately there isn't much of a private middle class left that is actually able to organize and combat what is in effect a 21 million strong Army that will always promote their self interests against the public good. The sole purpose of Public Sector Unions is to strengthen the role of Government at the expense of the financial and social well being of the public, since Government pays their salaries and funds their pensions, and keeps them out of jail when they do wrong.

But you say aren't we talking about paying teachers well or making sure our first line police officers are taken care of and we have enough training for our fire fighters. Yes it all sound well, but unfortunately Unions are not about the individual police officer nor does the Public get to negotiate with Unions. Instead the Unions negotiate with other government employees who also have massive conflicts of interests and who get to make long term decisions that have serious consequences to the Public. The public's interest are never served.

The end result is what we read about daily, broken states, unqualified teachers who can never be fired, and out of control law enforcement, that never seems to pay for their crimes. It's a self perpetuating system, and it all starts with power that Unions wield, in effect creating a shadow government that the public never deals with.
