COVID-19 Megathread

What are you doing, America? Stay home!

Is it just my state that’s like this?

My friends and I started quarantining a week before the official measures. I haven’t been out of the house except to work.

I work at a truck stop. Do you think I want to be exposed to the virus for a few hundred dollars a week? No, but I need income. And I need to keep the supply chain going - those truckers deliver you your groceries and necessities. My job isn’t prestigious, but it is essential.

We’ve been under quarantine for almost a week. It should only be essential workers out on the road right now. And yet, on my commute to work today, it was busier than it was before the quarantine! Are all these people essential workers? No. The drive through like at Starbucks was busier than it was when Popeye’s introduced their chicken sandwich! And I thought that was ridiculous!

I thought my work would be empty, save for the truckers providing their necessary services to our society. And yet, my work is so busy I don’t have three minutes to sit down or go to the bathroom. Over what? Some snacks and lottery, are you serious? You’re going to get me sick, and I’m going to spread it to my elderly parents. Will you only take it seriously when your grandmother or your father dies? Is that what it will take? The hospitals are already overwhelmed. They are out of ventilators. They have no masks. They are out of Tylenol!

Are you fucking kidding me, are you serious about this? One of the local hospitals just released a statement saying they’re going to choose who lives and who dies! They’re going to send people home with enough medicine to die “comfortably.” If they even have the medicine! That’s how bad it is, and you don’t fucking see it?

Stay home. Do your essential shopping, and then stay home for everyone’s safety. I hope to God I’m wrong about all of this, and all you I see on the roads are essential. I know my plea won’t get anywhere, but I have to get it off my chest.
