Now he literally gets together with other men on the weekend where they practice knife-skills, home defense skills, target practice ... it's like he's in some weekend militia group. At the start of the pandemic he asked me how much ammunition I had stockpiled. He once started to tell me it was to make them all "better m -" but then pivoted to "better people" and then "no, better parents."

I wanted to ask how knife skills make you a better parent.

There was no one who was going to be in his house that was a threat to him. Not in a town where there are 30 family members who all live within 5 square miles of each other. It was a wildly disproportionate response to come straight out with a gun.
