Dear Americans who were / are in Switzerland.

I ended up in hospital due to a bad biking crash on uetliberg. My first thought was how expensive this would be… it got worse when I was told I was brought in by ambulance (I had post crash amnesia).

Then the doctor said it wouldn’t cost me anything because of accident insurance. That made me relax.

But for some oddities: - windows without screens - windows opening at the top - next Tuesday means this Tuesday in American - first floor is second floor in United States - ground floor is first floor in American - different numbers for different emergency personnel (we just have 911) - no air conditioning - banks only give you one savings account - people take holiday and sick leave with no problem - accepted to work 80% instead of 100% - round abouts - lack of customer service (it’s very bad here I’m sorry) - four National languages … some Americans can’t even speak English properly - all Swiss can go to higher level education facility of their choosing (they just need to have entrance criteria but if you do and you apply- you’re in. Just have to not flunk out then).

Source: I grew up in the United States. I’ve been living in Switzerland for six years.
