[Megathread] Covid-19 in Switzerland & Elsewhere - Thread #14

a sense of empathy is emotional blackmail? how does it feel to become a sociopath when you start hacking into that keyboard? it's easy to disconnect yourself from life around you when you don't collide with the reality of those people that have been affected by that "other flu". Ignorance is bliss, I guess. let's hope you don't experience loss or that friend that isn't recovering. but if you do, maybe you reflect on your mindset and you may understand that some of us here, actually did get impacted in one or the other way.

All society is based on a social contract and at its core sits that we all agree on fundamental values and respect human life. even back in our nomadic days, tribes couldn't function without people cooperating and looking after each other, we may disagree on the ways, but not on the fundamentals. strength in numbers. because numbers enables survival. Not sure in what kind of dystopia you think to be living. But do you fail to see the legal framework that has been enacted and is continuously further developed to improve human life in all aspects, especially by targeting and curtailing the negative impact of driving, fossil fuels, smoking, risky sports and health care systems (do you really want me to list it all down and show you the progress that has and is being made here?) - have you even ever thought about what the ultimate purpose of economy should be? do you even understand what a corperation is? an abstract entity that is made of a body of people working together for a common purpose -are you blind to what life is all about? Hint: it's not about stats and numbers. It's about humans progressing. people dying by the millions and potentially millions more getting crippled is not that and I purposely reflect globally.

but I guess you will be here again in a couple of months being surprised how everything turned worse... because there is nothing that compares to this. we haven't had a pandemic of this magnitude, that involved so many people ever before. it's unchartered territory. you may not be scared, but as someone that knows people working in this field, some people are actually scared, because all hope rests on the virus subsiding, over time and developments like brasil is a very bad signal.
