Dear Reddit, how many of you begin to type responses to a thread, only to delete everything you said and move on? Why?

Rarely, since I, above all, use reddit to practice my English writing skills and hone the ability to make at least somewhat clear points in English. When I do it's usually because I realize that my comment isn't a mainsteam opinion on reddit and I'll likely get attacked and downvoted even if I try to elaborate on my points and I don't really want to deal with that. Honestly, I wouldn't even mind defending my point of view in a discussion but very often, when posting an unpopular opinion on reddit, you just get downvoted and spammed with cheap replies from people that didn't even try to understand your point and are only commenting for cheap upvotes.
