The Debate Audience Literally Laughed When Donald Trump Said He Respects Women

Humans have this biological capability for a little something we call language. It allows for the exchange of information, abstractions, thoughts, ideas, wisdom, and emotions through encoded written or verbal communication.

I have been on this earth for more than 28 years. In that time, I have never met a president or presidential candidate. 100% of my understanding of the candidates and presidents comes from language.

When Obama said in 2008 on the campaign trail, "Yes we can," it was a continuation of the central theme of his 2004 DNC speech "A More Perfect Union." I was able to understand that Barack Obama was a man who believed in an invisible thread connecting us all, and that this connection, when harnessed to its fullest potential, enables us to do great things together. When he spoke to a group of churchgoers that (paraphrasing) even if he was personally against abortion or gay marriage due to his faith, he must be able to justify his position with reasons that can be applied to people of all faiths, including those with no faith, that eloquently conveyed to me that Barack Obama is a man who understands the value of religious freedom, and that it is just as important for individuals to keep their religious beliefs out of their political views and stances as it is for the government to not favor or persecute a particular religion.
