Decade of data shows cars still dominate roads in Metro Vancouver | CBC News

I mean both the Port Mann and Massey tunnel are high volume roads/Vital pieces to Vancouver's transportation system that need the extra lanes. The Port Mann connects Vancouver to the rest of Canada and the Massey tunnel connects Vancouver to the United States. Between 2014-2017, the Port Mann only saw an extra 30 000/day increase over that span of time. Considering how rapidly Vancouver is growing, that's completely understandable. The Port Mann traffic levels mostly skyrocketed after the tolls were taken off but for good reason as it relieved a lot of the traffic from the aging Patullo bridge. (Port Mann rose by 25k and the Patullo bridge went down by 10k). Anyone who thinks the Massey tunnel doesn't need a higher capacity replacement is straight up delusional. I've spent as long as 2 hours trying to get through that tunnel before. Traffic nightmare that definitely needs expanding.
