[DISCUSSION] this article in Huffpost made me sick with rage! I'm so sick of this "kids are great, you don't know what you're missing, your life is empty, you don't know true love/ have true meaning until you have kids". Argh, is this huffpost writer arrogant enough!

I happen to agree that people who don’t want children should not have them. I’m delighted to wish you well on whatever road you take, but I do find myself stopping mid hand-wave and asking this question: Really?

Yes, really, bitch. You don't get to judge my life, just because what I want isn't what you would want.

How can you be so sure?

Are you questioning my own life choices, yet again?

Parenting, in my opinion, also presents us with the best opportunity to have our days on Earth count for something: Producing a child who can make us better as a civilization, turn us into a kinder and gentler nation.

Once again, your opinion. I don't need to create a person just to make me a better person. in fact, making another person in the world's current state of affairs should terrify any normal, rational person.

My kids have forced me to become a better person.

So it took having children to force this woman into being a better person. Could she not become a good person her own?

Which gets me back to not quite understanding why so many of the best and brightest seem to be shunning parenting.

Because some of us are bright enough to know that having kids would be the worst possible thing that we could ever do.

It's really funny that this person presumes to know what's best for us, when she herself was convinced by her husband that she should be a parent. That's the ultimate in hypocrisy.
