[DISCUSSION] Chance The Rapper Acid Rap Impressions and thoughts

Hello;

I heard of Chance back in 2012 but skipped over him because he was still relatively small and Chicago was going hard on the Drill Scene back then which at the time I was more interested

One year later Acid Rap came out. It got really favorable impessions and was generating quite a buzz. Saw the track listing and I was impressed with it. Saw lots of up and coming rappers such as aciton bronson at the time and Ab Soul and Gambino. Also saw Twista on there which was really strange to me at the time but thinking about it retrospectively that feature kinda shows that even the older veteran rappers are cosigning as well. I youtubed the song Juice(first song that came up). Enjoyed it, downlaoded the tape. At the time I thought the tape was okay at first. I only really enjoyed the tracks with the features on them and the intro. Other than that it thought the rest of the tape was okay... I would probably give it a 6.5(a bit above average).

2014 and 2015 rolls around, and chance is still making a name for himself and generating more buzz. The feature on the jerimah record, the drake shout out, the skillex track, the bieber track. So when Surf came out i checked out acid rap at the same time too. I enjoyed Surf more than Acid Rap at the time even though they are different. But one thing I did notice that i started to apprecaite and like his voice and flow. I probably bumped the score to acid rap to a 7.

Listened to Acid Rap again today.. And it still continues to impress me even more. Yeah chance is much bigger now but the amount of horns, chords and keys on Acid Rap reeally impresses me. You dont hear those sounds anymore. I already got used to his voice and flow so it didnt bother me as it used to. I now would give it an 8
