It doesn't make sense to say for a long prison term that it is too short

Having worked in prisons (not for them, but in them), they get every opportunity to improve themselves. From trade qualifications, graduate certificates, training courses, on site psychologists, sexual health programs, work experience (paid work) and the list goes on and on. They get a better new start at life than most high school graduates. We also don’t do criminal checks for most work places here, so it doesn’t even negatively effect them later. They don’t want to be rehabilitated and they can’t be forced to attend the programs, so 99% of these go to waste, but are still paid for. I’m not sure people quite understand what happens in prisons…
