Dog walker 'almost in tears' after picking up almost 2kgs of poop left behind by other dogs

I would never let my animals interact with any type of dog, it is a risk I am not willing to take.

It's the truth that I see constant reports of dogs getting loose and killing other people's pets. I see at least two or three Facebook posts about it daily.

I would never walk through any park alone, and not because of "dodgy" people, it's because of dogs running loose. I'd like to walk through a park alone but this is something that has been taken away from me (and other people I know) due to negligent dog owners. I have had a dog bite my sleeve when we were passing (thankfully it was a loose jacket so it didn't make contact with the skin) and one who wouldn't stop chasing me and nipping at my ankles. I was with someone else at the time, who asked the owner calmly to make his dog stop but he just laughed at us as if it was some big joke!

I have also been laughed at when I asked an owner to put a leash on his dog in an "on leash" area as it was terrifying the birds. I do not know why they just laugh every time? It's not "funny" or "cute". When that incident happened we were having a picnic and enjoying watching the birds and were feeling really relaxed but someone had to ruin it all because they decided to let their dog off leash.

Perhaps there would have been no need for a leash law change if people read the rules in the first place? I'm not sure how it all came about.
