[election quarantine] SSC readers who supported Donald Trump, how are you feeling about the next four years? (Readers who opposed him, please be polite)

(Relevant identity information: I am a non-white person who is culturally Blue Tribe.)

I voted for Trump because I see him as the lesser evil. I think that the racial politics that have taken over the cultural left in the past few years are incredibly dangerous and destructive. If leftist racial politics continue to dominate culture, the absolute best-case scenario that I see is endless racial strife. Worst case is race war and/or genocide.

Demographics are changing, and in about 30 years white people will be a minority in this country. However, the past is never going to change -- we will never erase the history of slavery, Jim Crow, etc. Past white people will still be just as guilty of those things as past white people are today.

If leftist racial politics continue to dominate, I fully expect that in 2045 white people will still be regarded as the oppressor class, even if they're technically a minority. The history of situations where a minority group gets branded as the oppressor class are... not so good. Things could get ugly, and they could get ugly even sooner if white people see this coming and decide to take drastic action.

I believe that our society needs to reject leftist racial politics, for the good of all races. For that to happen, the left needs to lose, and the more thorough and humiliating the defeat, the better. Electing Trump keeps contemporary society's most dangerous ideology out of power and creates an opportunity for a healthier form of leftism to fill the vacuum.

Early returns seem to see the left doubling-down on "White people are standing in the way of progress", which I find pretty worrying. But it's only been a few days, and people are in shock. I have some hope that things will get better in the next four years.

(I eventually decided that I do support Trump himself, for similar reasons to what others have mentioned here, but realistically "He's not the left" is the reason that matters.)
