Eric Reid: I didn’t even know you could be ejected in the NFL

I still dont understand why we treat a running QB any differently than a RB or a WR.

I know it goes against the popular standpoint, but IMO the minute you cross that line of scrimmage with ball in hand you should be considered a runner and as a runner should be able to be tackled like any other runner.

Horse collars, clothes lines, facemasks, helmet to helmet should all still apply, but this sliding shit I just dont get it. I've seen more mobile QBs, for example Mariota last year or the year before, get away with murder because they present as if they're sliding and the defender pulls off only to continue running and torch the defense for a TD.

In addition to this body weight bullshit rule change, it is becoming increasingly harder for defenders to do their job (hit people and stop the offense).

If QBs dont want to severely increase their risk of injury, then they shouldn't run the ball past the line of scrimmage.

I know this will never happen...but what they could do is say a scrambling QB who hits the dirt (be it a slide or a dive) is automatically down at the spot of the ball. Then there is literally no incentive to hit the QB in any type of falling motion
