Even rich people don't buy their stuff because it fails to bring a significant improvement in their lives , plus we don't even have a real world statistic on self driving car being safer
eg. ON THE SAME MODEL (the new golf , volvo , model 3 whatever) having 50k vehicles fully autonomous and 50k human drive , fill them with accelerometers and after a year measure :
And that would only take care of vehicles impacts....not even sure how we could measure the safety of a self driving car in the urban traffic (where people think they would be ubiquitous) filled with pedestrians , bikes....
What Tesla and other car companies rushing things out on the self driving cars thing is basically using human clients as accelerometers , which is at least morally doubious , but perhaps most importantly a bad measurement
Companies like Teamviewer and Slack did much more to reduce CO2 emissions and MOST IMPORTANTLY they did so while providing a net visible improvement in people lives (not just externalities and pollution reduction sadly nobody is willing to pay for) and enabling them to easly work from home (nice UI , easy to use...) not taking any subsides or prelevating from taxpayers pockets
