My father, convinced far right extremist, very seriously thought about taking part in a terrorist attack in our home country and openly try to make it look like migrants did it, just to boost the neonazi candidate he supports in the elections. Only thing that stopped him was lack of opportunity.

He still wouldn't get the hypocrisy of his stance, and he was convinced that launching a terror attack now was NOT the best way to stop the possible future terror attack that he imagines migrants will launch in the future if they are allowed into the country. He was even openly frustrated by the lack of terror attacks as elections loomed and the neonazi candidate was lagging behind in the polls.
