Feelings on Apple Watch

It's clear you don't know much about watches. Which is fine, there's really no practical purpose for an interest in horology anymore. The digital age kind of killed that.

I know quite a bit, but nice ad hominem.

However, to say a round screen isn't a classic look is obviously ridiculous and trollish.

It's a very classic look. For watches. They'e circular for a reason; the sweep of the hands. A smartwatch doesn't have that requirement, and the requirements for what a smartwatch does do come in direct opposition to the "round" screen.

Except for the Cartier Tank and the Reverso, there aren't really any other "classic" square faced watches. So if you want it to be "classic" in appearance, clearly a round screen is the correct option.

And the Steve McQueen Monaco. Are you sure you're as up on your fancy watches as you think you are?

Secondly, thick complicated watches are definitely "classic". The LG Watch R is obviously borrowing from classic designs such as the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch.

They most certainly are not. Watches have ballooned in size in the past few decades; a regular sized mens watch from 40 years ago is the size of a modern women's watch. Sure, there are exceptions, which you pointed one out. But the Huawei and Moto aren't think in homage, they're thick because they can't engineer them any smaller (Apple suffers from this too; the Apple Watch is certainly thicker than they'd like because there's only so small you can get the guts).

Both which you would call "crazy thick".

And neither of which are mainstream, every-man watches. Look at the typical Omega or Tag Heuer or Rolex. They're the size they need to be to accommodate the guts and battery and whatever casing for that model. The bigger ones are bigger for fashion reasons, not "we can't make it any smaller".

So, yes, by any horologist's definition, the LG Watch R would have a classy look. You can argue otherwise, but unlike me, you won't find anything to back yourself up.

Please, the G Watch is clunky and doesn't have anywhere near the fit&finish and aesthetics as a real high-end watch. If you squint without your glasses on maybe, but it looks like a flea market knockoff more than a nice Omega. Poll 100 owners of $5k+ watches, and ask if the G Watch R is a classy, svelte, luxury look. 0 affirmatives.
