Folks who have had poor experience with your lender or mortgage brokers, what happened? Who is the lender? Of course - one size doesn't fit all - some of us may have had a great experience with these lenders. But the situation and outcome could be valuable lessons for everyone.

We went with a local highly recommended credit union for our first house.

What a shit show.

After 2.5 months; multiple extensions; we dumped them. Found a local mortgage broker that got us to close in less than 2 weeks from contacting them.

We had 800+ credit scores, zero debt, zero collections, stable jobs, 10% earnest money, had collateral, you name it.

Local credit union: did a hard credit pull multiple times, lost paperwork multiple times, asked the same questions over and over again, switched our contact person 4 times, yelled at both us and our realtor when we asked what the hold up was, went on vacation without finalizing paperwork or letting us know, forced us into 2 extensions, we banked with them for years they had allllll our paperwork, etc etc.

A month after we closed on the house we got a letter from the credit union: they said due to lack of credit, lack of earnest money, lack of collateral they were canceling our mortgage loan process. Morons.

I’ll never use a bank or credit union for any financing ever again.
