Greater competition will just fuck local residents over more. The problem Airbnb is causing is that at least in my area it makes buying a house impossible unless you're an investor. I live 15 minutes from a ski resort and houses dont go up for sale anymore. Investors have completely strangled the area so much that people dont bother putting their homes up for sale they just call up one of the investors who will snatch it up in a heartbeat.

Local business are suffering too because the area turns into a ghost town once the ski season is over. I've seen so many of them close up because they cant survive the summer drought because almost no one lives here anymore. It's all rentals and timeshares now up here.
