Former Neo-Nazis/members of hate groups, what was your “I need to get the hell out of here” moment?

After reading through most of the replies it stands out that all of the replies fit into two categories.

1) I was in a criminal gang, but left because I realized conforming to social norms was going to make my life better. All of these replies you could replace drug gang with KKK and they would read identically.

2) Obvious /r/quityourbullshit

What I don't see is anyone making an intellectual case for moving away from a racial view of politics based on research, evidence and rational arguments. Nothing to the effect of "I used to believe the holocuast was fake because of wooden doors, John Ball and the holocoaster, but they were disproved by..." Or "I used to think flooding western countries with mulsims was a bad idea, but then I realized turning Europe into the middle east will be a boon for the world economy and science."
