I was on opiates for years for a chronic pain disease. I was taking too many and realized I was on my way to becoming a junkie and wanted to stop. I discussed this with my pain doctor and asked him to help me get off the pills and his response was “I’m not licensed in opiate cessation” and I had to do it on my own! Thank God for my supportive family helping me through withdrawals and me being able to stop before it got any worse and finding other ways to manage my pain. Meanwhile the same doctor jumped my dad from hydro pills to Fentanyl patches and I worry about my dad every single day. I am so angry with this doctor who is clearly part of the problem!
