Fox News Panelist Laughed At For Defending Trump's Call To Raffensperger

Lindsey Ellis has a great video on "Springtime for Hitler," the Mel Brooks film about two producers making a Nazi musical. She examines its satirical stance and concludes that the reason its so critical is that fascism relies entirely on being taken seriously. It has very little substance as far as what it actually stands for, every fascist regime in history (bar maybe Franco) has been adamant about using lies and misinformation to further its goals. The only reason that works is because its trusted and taken seriously. One of the best ways to counteract that is to create comedy about it and laugh at it, because by not taking it seriously you can expose the fundamental misdirection and untruth behind it instead of legitimizing it with real conversation. It's why comedy about the state is so fiercely stifled by such regimes, because it directly attacks the authority that the entire system relies upon
