Free Talk Friday - Casual Friday Discussions

Of all the computer/tech/religious subreddits I subscribe and am a member of, I gotta say /r/Apple is the most contrary opinion adverse community. I mean this is found in all communities - but everytime I make a claim, opinion, or restate a fact that's contrary to the Apple religion - I may as well get arrested for blasphemy.

So I'll say it and get this off my chest....

The iPad pro isn't a Surface competitor. It can't run Photoshop. It can't run heavy productivity applications. It took them years to come out with the pen and keyboard, it was a clear reactionary knee jerk to the Surface.

Secondly, The MacBook Pro kinda sucks in one regard. The hardware. Apple lost focus on the actual Pro and is catering to the $2000+ YouTube book users.

Many of us just want a bit more battery life, actual quad core i5 and i7 options in the 13" MBP. But instead they continue thinning down the macbook. I can understand removing head phone jacks. Floppy drives. CD rom drives. Even the touch bar. But shrinking down the MacBook pro while sacrificing technical specifications is a clear form over function mantra.

It kinda pains me to see Apple going down this path. Jobs didn't have an engineering background, he focused on design. But he learned his lesson on the NeXT. The switch to Intel. The Performance per watts focus. The Uniform body on the MacBook Pro. The OSX revamp.

All very well rounded design choices that also put in sound and tasteful technical prowess to the products. I just hope Apple really goes ahead and implements parallel ARM AX + Intel chips into their MBP line soon.
