Free Talk Friday [2018-02-16]

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand r/soccer. The satirical articles are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical sarcasm most of the jokes will go over a typical fans head. There's also Neymar’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Bacca’s mother literature, for instance, when she says that she would hit him wit shoe. The r/soccer regulars understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike r/soccer truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Hernane’s existential catchphrase "It was the saddest backflip of my career" which itself is a cryptic reference to when he scored against the team that he loved. I'm smirking right now just imaginating one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Zlatan's genius wit unfolds itself on his hatred for France, calling it a shit country. What fools.. how I pity them.
