Howdy y'all,
I'm the guy that complained about getting his ass kicked by depression and a screenplay last week, so here's an update: less depressed this week but still making zero progress in the screenplay. I keep giving the excuse that I need to do research for part of it(which I do), but mostly I'm just being lazy and slightly intimidated by the project. If anybody has advice for that I'd really appreciate it.
That said, I feel like complaining about something sports-related today, so let me say this: I am sick of the Blackhawks fans at my college. Granted, I hate the Blackhawks(Blues fan here), so this isn't unexpected, but mostly I hate their attitude compared to the Blackhawks fans I normally hang out with. My friend Josh and my old boss Jason have lived basically their entire lives in Chicago(except for Jason's brief tenure here at KU, he's actually partially responsible for convincing me to come here) and we have a lot of fun shit talking each other about sports all year but our ribbing is usually rooted in respect. After the NFC Championship game in 2010 the only thing I told them for a week was congratulations for their season, and they're usually pretty sympathetic when the Blues go out of the playoffs.
Blackhawks fans around here are not like that. These guys are assholes of the highest fuckin' caliber. All they do all day everyday is talk shit on the Blues. Then they talk shit on the fans for supporting their team. Then they just keep going, I don't know how to explain it but it is the most smug, vitriolic, mean spirited trash talk I have ever seen and I have no time for that. It's just bizarre to me, when it comes to the Blues/Blackhawks rivalry I had way more fun getting into it with people actually from Chicago(who you think would get more vicious about it given their closer connection to the team) than with their out of state fanbase, and while I hate to bitch about fans being bandwagoners I really can't stand that the impression I get of these fans is that they only support the Hawks because right now it gives them free reign to shit on KU's sizable populace of Blues and Wild fans.
