I fucked up real bad and got a $8500 Sec.58 Quarantine Act ticket

Basically I tested positive while in the US

This story continues?

If you want to sue someone, sue the dummy who confirmed you're COVID-19 positive. Who didn't explain you what you can do (self-isolate) and what you can't do (anything else except self-quarantine).

To be clear - I'm not blaming you OP.

There's going to be a mix of reactions here and those negative reactions have no clue what people are going through when they test positive.

How little support they are offered.

How little information they are provided.

They really can't comprehend how you tested positive and ended up freely mixing with society and travelling about, while infectious. They can't comprehend that travelling across the border while infectious is an exemption which does exist - only for the elite. Millionaires are allowed to do what the call center lackey explained was possible, without checking first to know if you played for the Toronto Maple Leafs or Houston Rockets.

So if you could please fill in the blanks for them, let everyone know all the blanks missing from after testing they don't know exist.

I'd be surprised if they even sent you an email with an up to date information about quarantine. The system is so overwhelmed you faced either old public health support and struggled to find anything that applied to your situation. I'm so sorry you had to endure such tantamount stress after an already emotionally charged situation.

Nobody knows that unless you picked up the phone and called someone (like you did) there is nearly zero support for you.

I bet at some point you explained you couldn't financially stay away from home - and they shrugged.

If you would kindly enlighten everyone about the struggles you faced after testing, and elaborate on the lack of support - that's going to be an eye opener for many.
