I fucking hate meme culture

I mean sure, adopting that identity allows you to become something and actually fit in somewhere, but do you really want your self-worth and your relationships to be based on the aura of irony and insincerity?

I remember first semester freshman year of my undergrad, I was hanging out with people who were, although not "memers," were stoners (but I never did any drugs though, not my thing) and their thing was being really sarcastic and and kind of shitty to each other. I realize now that I hung out with them because they were the first people who accepted me because I could be bitingly sarcastic. One day towards the end of the semester (likely because they stopped inviting me to things) I realized I didn't want to hang out w/ them anymore because I didn't like who I was becoming. That's who I was becoming.
