Gamers of Reddit, What did a game do to make you quit completely?

Civilization 5 vanilla, before any patches.

So I know this is a complicated game. I research it for hours, reading all the strategies, the units, the leader personalities. I decide to put the game on Warlord (hard). I find myself on an island, I design a strategy, handcrafted to my leader, my and my resources. I go for a science victory, I manage to the great library, everything is going great. Still, I know that they'reare enemies all around, that at least some of them will try to take my prosperity from me.

Ghenkis Khan declares war on me! Ahah! The inevitable war has begun. I prepare to defend my homeland. I'm outmanned but not out scienced.

So I wait

and wait

and wait

and wait

I occasionally encounter the odd Khan combat unit but they are always isolated and alone. Some kind of diversion, I suspect.

Finally, I venture out to explore. I figure perhaps someone I have not discovered has declared war on Khan and he is too weak to engage me. Perhaps he is fiendishly luring me out before striking.

until finally, I see Ghenkis's forces.

His master plan is revealed.

He's sending his men unescorted one at a time at men.
