General discussion sunday

I kind of get where he's coming from I think.

I used to work in asbestos abatement for a small local company and it was a party scene. Barbecue and beers every Friday. Walking over to the bar as a crew once the vehicles were cleaned. As a kid in his early 20s making quite a bit of money for unskilled labour it was a good life.

I left the job a few years ago to pursue a different branch (less exposed) of the asbestos industry, and the company got a lot bigger in my absence. They got a lot of work during Covid as every office in the area did their Reno's while people were working from home. Owner was smart about it, spent the extra cash on building training areas in the workshop.

Went back to say hi about a year ago and apart from the name, you wouldn't recognize it as the same company. It's very corporate now. It's so big now that the owner can't really be "one of the boys" and is more of the overseer.

And this is where I get to Undertaker. The culture at my old job is way different. Im a little sad the the workplace culture there is different than the one I enjoyed. I bet the crews now just see each other as professionals and aren't going to ripper bars together, but I bet it's a lot less problematic
