General Discussion Thread: Bite Sized Things

This so belongs in whiny wednesday but I gotta get it out there.

I'm so annoyed by everyone's well meaning but mostly ill informed nutrition advice. First it was my mother. I told her I put half a banana in my protein smoothie (half banana, almond milk, strawberries, spinach, and protein powder). She got mad and told me bananas are pure carbs stop eating them. Eat something healthier and less fattening than a smoothie everyday.

A friend of mine is getting into an online fitness community (the one time subscription kind) where they eat clean and I can't stop hearing stuff about nutrition. I mentioned how I like calorie counting because it allows me to eat a bag of chips if I crave it without feeling guilty. "Chips are never good for you even if they fit your calories!"

Then we were going to split a bowl at chipotle because it would be cheaper, but I was told I wouldn't be allowed to get sour cream or cheese because those things aren't good for you. Pfffftttt! I'll pay for my own thank you very much. Then it was chipoltle would be perfect if only it had quinoa because rice is bad for you, you should never eat it. Le sigh.

But right after we went to go see Pitch Perfect 2 (it's cute btw). I bought tickets in advance and she bought candy from the drugstore (we had to get one chewy thing and chocolate to balance it out lol), buttery popcorn, and a slushie from the theater.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

WTH?! It was cute how she wanted to balance the candy, but holy jesus on toast. Sour cream is the devil, but we should get all this junk for a simple two hour movie when we just ate??? I would have much preferred payment for the tickets, but I didn't realize for some people candy and popcorn during the movie is an absolute must. I never grew up like that. I don't eat or buy stuff at the movie theater. What's the point of going out beforehand???? So I was a little annoyed. It usually doesn't bother me at all, but after ALL that criticism it got to me.

Oh and there's something going on with aspartame and I've been told I shouldn't use splenda anymore. It's getting a little out of hand and like I'm living with my mom again.

I work out regularly. I've lost 10 lbs since April. I count calories. My fitbit is coming in tomorrow! I want an active, healthy, nutritious lifestyle. I've limited sugar, junk food, eat tons of leafy green veggies everyday (and I like to), but STAHHHHHPPPPP with your advice. You are harshing my mellow. Calm down! There's gonna be a point where I can't help but shove a cocktail parasol umbrella up someone's nose.
