Lots of cars have OEM high quality rotors with cheap POS metallic pads erroneously replaced by places like pepboys and the like that create a ton of brake dust since the rotors are designed for ceramic pads not for soft metallic pads. Front pads wear out much faster since the front brakes do a majority of the braking and get replaced first. Rear pads will often outlast the front pads by a factor of 2 to 3 times.

Your example of profiling is little more than poor education through and through.
