I got my license recently at the ripe old age of 25, and I'm looking for some driving music. What makes you feel absolutely free when you drive?

Man it's all contingent on what's going on.. like these days I'm stuck in a giant 4x4 pickup so go-fast jams are going to either be unsatisfying or dangerous, depending on whether I decide to go with it.

One of my favorites unfortunately I can't really link you to because I guess it never really made its way onto the internet but Brian McMahon - the tough thing is that's a really common name so there's dozens of performers out there with that name. This guy specifically was in a Cleveland punk band in the early 1970s but he's still working today and way more interesting depending whether you've got a long attention span. There's no hooks, not really even verse/chorus/verse. Kinda more a charming mental illness like Daniel Johnston or Sean Nicholas Savage.

When I'm driving my wife's Mustang glitchy ass European stuff like Lamb is my jam, and I like to organize it to play full albums through in order, so there's no sudden changes in mood or tempo. Like if I'm driving in South Florida and want to blast traffic that stuff puts me in the zone.

If I want to get an hour down the road and not remember any of it, I go straight for ATB - it's not good for like 12 hour drives because that shit will put me to sleep and make me never want to hear another drum machine in my life but for a drive that's like an hour or three it's hard to beat ATB or something like Roni Size

Just cruising around like errands or whatever I toss in some variety like the Iris and wax
