Every career has additional costs baked in. An accountant has to buy an expensive suit. A tradesman has to purchase his own tools. Live in a small town? Well better pay to fly out to get a job and fly home a few times a year.

I don't agree with the complaint that having to purchase 100 pens and 100 notebooks at the dollar store is worth crying about. Additionally, 'teacher' is the base level role in that organization. You can become a department head, principle, superintendent etc. etc. You can't just start out and expect everything out of teachers school just like any job.

In my experience there are very few real quality teachers. Many are just unambitious people looking for a guaranteed paycheck and benefits for life with summers off.
