Though I feel like Baader-Meinhoff is rarely what's happening on reddit. 9 times out of 10, it's simply relevant posts trending, e.g. one dude posts a Red Dwarf clip and then 50 other people do as well, because they want in on the action.

If someone had discovered Red Dward via the first post, it would seem like a coincidence or Baader Meinhoff to them that they keep seeing Red Dwarf posts the following days, when in reality a lot of people (including others who just found out about it) are posting more Red Dwarf content than usual.

I've known about Red Dwarf for years, but haven't seen clips of it for many months. I've seen maybe 4 different clips of it this week because reddit apparently has it on its hivemind currently.

These trending topics happen constantly on reddit and there will always be someone saying "weird I just found out about this and now here are more posts" and another person will inevitably reply "baader meinhoff."

Inb4 someone says "I just learned about baader meinhoff yesterday and here it is in this thread!"
