Gun applicants in New York will have to hand over social accounts

As somebody processing to be an LEO, that's a bit of a red flag nowadays to have no social media and they make extra sure to find out if you're being truthful- either you are and it's all hunky-dory, or you lied because you feel the need to hide something. I'm 30 and a bit of an old man at heart and only use Reddit and Insta, and have a FB I barely use. My investigator seemed to think even that was suspicious at first until he got a better sense of who I was. On the spot, his review of my social media history seemed pretty cursory and non-invasive, but I wouldn't be surprised if they looked a little deeper behind the scenes.

I've known people applying for pistol permits here in NY and the ease of the process can vary widely depending on where and who you are. A close friend ( 36 y/o straight white male, apolitical) applied almost three years ago and heard back for the first time just over a month ago.
