Keep the bike in gear with the kickstand down and stand on the kickstand side. Before you begin moving the bike, get comfortable with balancing it and letting it safely "fall". To do this, find the balance point where you only need to apply minimum force to steady the bike and use your hip against the side of the tank to anchor its weight against your center of mass and your hands on the bars.

These are your three contact points and this is how you'll walk the bike (you'll also be using the clutch and front brake). To let the bike "fall", step away pulling it gently to the kickstand side and releasing your grip on the clutch and pulling the front brake to bring it toward you. It should rest on the stand.

Repeat this several times without moving the bike to get comfortable with how this feels. Having the bike in gear and pulling toward the front brake side means it will work even on an incline both going forward and back.

To move the bike just pull the clutch and walk it forward or back, the bulk of the weight (there isn't much at balance) should be anchored to your hip and you should be able to easily push the bike.
