Help with 8moM and his parents

Okay cool, that's how I feel as well. He seemed stressed even when I came back, so I picked him up out of the chair to hold him, and was trying to put him back but he was still crying and keeping his legs straight to prevent me from seating him.

I feel that with time, he'll relax and settle. But NP's rush to calm him by all means necessary, typically the TV. I feel like it sets back any progress we might make on getting him to calm himself. Also it seems like because his parents immediately rush to stop his crying, he cries more when they are there. Does that make sense?

So how do I balance my thoughts about his self soothing and NP's persecute in it? They have been open about being okay with (and encouraging) me helping him learn to self soothe, but seem reluctant to practice it themselves.
