High School student's perspective on this episode's amazing critique of competitive school culture.

I was raised the same way in Venezuela the middle and upper class are in constant competition to stay afloat and not be a big failure. So my dad slept outside or made long lines to apply for admissions to prestigious catholic schools. I was tutored cause otherwise I would have been a large failson, during Kindergarden they were already telling me I was "off in my own little world" not really doing the lesson and shit. So I got a tutor for the better part of my childhood. However, because we had a stay-at-home mom, we also got shitload of sports and went to learn English from a young age so we got to have fun.

I think I got 1 bad 9 week report card and was constantly monitored afterwards. After we moved to the U.S, things were a little more difficult to monitor since both parents had to work. I did pretty well in school except for a couple of disciplinary things, some of which were bullshit.

I had no clue about college, except for the stuff they keep pumping out about "college educated people make a million dollars more than someone with just a high school degree". All my friends went to the top State School, but I had no fucking clue how to do college applications or scholarships, so I ended up at a community college and transferring to a commuter school.

I think I came out ok.
