Pobeltors thoughts on Best of 1 change

Yeah I think the whole problem vs traditional sports is that when you have different teams from certain places around the world who maybe represent certain cities it's very easy for people to identify with them. It's like "Hey, those guys come from where I live and they speak the same language, they sort of represent my values. Of course I'm gonna back them up!"

And because it creates a much bigger "bond" with the team since people are able to identify with the teams and players this way, even if a team is doing bad the fans will support them because it's a lot harder to give up on people that come from for example the same city you live in.

But with LoL you have none of that, so you have to create a preference based on completely different things such as personality. A lot of people just like a certain team because they simply like the personalities of the players, but because in LoL teams also change constantly and rosters change it doesn't make people so sticky to one particular team. If 2 of your favorite players switch teams, well you probably aren't going to be a fan of the old team anymore because everything you liked about it is now gone.

Also people naturally want to be a fan of a team that does well, but because you can't create as strong of a bond to the players as you do in traditional sports based on your identity and values, the teams in eSports that get the most fans are naturally the winners, because if you have nothing to identify with and you have to choose to be a fan between two teams you'll probably choose the winner rather than the loser.
