So the standard should be higher. Police training isn't exactly the hardest test to pass. If you want to give someone that kind of authority and power why not give it to those who deserve it. Also they never seem to get punished for abusing that power which has resulted in them feeling untouchable while they should be punished extremly harshly for any unnecessary deviation from procedure or crime they commit. I just think the system is lazy to begin with and it has become the norm for us to pretend all police officers are qualified. Having a better force would result in less police brutality and a safer jobs for the cops. In most places they have the resources and manpower to deal with every situation they face. A police officer is not the law, they are a tool to enforce the law.
