How are Black men with afros viewed in China?

Disclaimer: Not a teacher but friends of many of teachers of multiple nationalities. I'm sure some others will have good comments.

Parents (or, worse, grandparents that raise kids often, but that's another rabbit hole to dive in to) can be very judgemental on first sight. And often though not always little ability to judge teaching. Looking tidy is important, and an afro or well kept beard is considered tidy, usually, turn up a little early, create a good rapture with students and colleagues, be attentive with exercises so not only the kids benefit but parents/grandparents can see. You will get some racist grandparents, but I think less today. Nationality goes the way of the political compass on a weekly basis.

That's mainly it in a very brief form. Perhaps those that teach with afros could share. Also, r/chinalife
